About Jeanne

Joy does not simply happen to us. We have to choose joy and then keep choosing it every day.

As your therapist, I create a healing atmosphere as we discuss what brings you to therapy. In this safe environment you can begin to explore what is happening in your life and start to sort things out.

Many of us feel unheard and unseen in our daily lives and sometimes we lose touch with our deeper needs. When we aren’t taking time for ourselves, we can easily get caught in negative loops of reactivity and blame. An example might be getting lost in our stories about who is right (ourselves) and who is wrong (others)!

When we are feeling anxious and confused, we often indulge in addictive behaviors to ease our pain; food, alcohol, sex, social media, television, or perhaps a process addiction like excessive busyness. But these are only temporary fixes.

Therapy can provide a way out of this painful, destructive cycle by helping you develop greater levels of awareness. I will be drawing on my many years of personal and professional experience and training as I help you to slow down and become more curious about how we hold many emotions in our bodies while we continue to imagine all the answers are in our minds. Together we will explore this rich territory of practicing deeper mind/body awareness.

I am also trained to talk about death and dying. As a certified End Of Life Doula, I am dedicated to restoring death to its sacred place in the beauty, mystery and celebration of life.

My clients appreciate my positive and candid communication style. A loving presence and a sense of humor are also important ingredients in my therapeutic process as they often lead to a fresh perspective.

After a brief initial phone conversation, we will usually have a sense of whether we will work well together. If so, we can schedule an appointment. Please give me a call or send me a message if you would like to get acquainted.

GOOD GRIEF RITUALS

TOOLS FOR HEALING

By Elaine Childs-Gowell

This book is full of healing rituals to help you work through a loss of any kind--whether recent or in the past.  Many of the tools deal with forgiveness and gratitude and take only a short time to practice.

How To Love

By Thich Nhat Hanh

Zen Master and author Thich Nhat Hanh’s spiritual wisdom is a gift to us all.  This tiny book is one of the best examples of the pure simplicity of his work.  I hope you read it yourself and then read it to someone you love.

If The Buddha Dated

A HANDBOOK FOR FINDING LOVE ON A SPIRITUAL PATH

by Charlotte Kasl, PhD

I like to think of this book as required reading for anyone who is dating.  The author's first piece of advice is to find your own spiritual path to deepen your own self-knowledge and awareness.   Then you are on more solid ground and ready to share your love and your life with another.

I Ching

PHONE APP

Feeling confused or overwhelmed in the moment? How about consulting ancient Chinese wisdom on the spot?  Instantly be reminded why pausing, reflecting, and taking the high road is always the best choice.  This accessible practice is an excellent tool for learning how our emotional reactivity is what often leads to our troubles.

A New EartH

AWAKENING TO YOUR LIFE’S PURPOSE

By Eckhart Tolle

Have you ever read a book where you underlined something on every other page?  This is one of those books. The author weaves the essential wisdom of many major religious traditions into a fresh new primer on how we can live a better life and ultimately create a better world.

The Artist's Way

A SPIRITUAL PATH TO HIGHER CREATIVITY

By Julia Cameron

This book is considered a classic for anyone interested in nurturing their creativity. You’ll often hear artists and musicians referring to their daily practice of writing “morning pages.” This turns out to be just one of the tools you’ll learn from the author, who shares her own struggle with addiction and details how she eventually became a successful playwright and author. It can be helpful to read it on your own or to join a group of creatives who are working through the exercises together.
